"Urban Legend" centers around a group of college students attending Pendelton University, a north-eastern college in the Northeast. Student, Natalie, begins to notice many bizarre killings around the campus, and they all seem to be linked to urban legends that her friends tell. With the help of Paul, she begins to dig deeper into the history of the university, and discovers information of the Stanley Hall Massacre. Well, tonight is the 25th anniversary of the massacre.
And the maniacal killer is planning one gruesome finale, that could one day be it's own urban legend - the story of Natalie's own horrific murder.
Interesting facts
In the auditorium behind Natalie and Parker, you can see writer Silvio Horta in his cameo.
Before Paul and Natalie see the axe in Wexler's office, you can spot a Freddy Krueger puppet hanging on the wall. Robert Englund, who plays Professer Wexler, also played Freddy Krueger in "A Nightmare On Elm Street".
At the end of the movie, students recount the movie's events as an urban legend. They joke about the tale's validity, and one says, "And I bet Brenda was the girl from the Noxzema commercial." Actress Rebecca Gayheart, who plays Brenda in the film, did indeed appear in several commercials for Noxzema.
The car driven in the opening sequence was originally supposed to be a Land Rover, but was changed to a Ford Expedition because there wasn't enough room to swing an axe in the Land Rover.
Sarah Michelle Gellar accepted the role of Sasha but had to back out due to schedule conflicts with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".
